As such, we’re proud to introduce a new, completely optional paid tier, which spans not just Nintendo Life but all Hookshot websites.

Why are you offering a supporter/subscription system?
We want to offer a choice to our readers.
Until now, we have only generated revenue by displaying adverts around our content, and we recognise that some of you would like an ad-free (faster) browsing experience.
To allow that to happen, we needed an alternative revenue model; instead of viewing adverts, paying us directly with a subscription allows us to continue to run a viable business.
Can I still view all your website content for free?
Yes! We have no plans pay-wall our content.
However, we feel that it's fair to expect readers to either view adverts or have an active subscription to view ad-free.
Will you be doing exclusive content only for supporters/subscribers?
No, we don't currently have any plans to produce exclusive content for our paid supporters. We believe in providing a choice for you to either view our content with adverts or pay for a subscription.
We don't want to segregate our audience into two groups and want our content to reach as many people as possible.
Will you be adding any other perks/features to the supporter/subscription system?
Most likely. The initial offering is about allowing you to view our site(s) without adverts.
We will poll our audience to see what other features/perks would be desirable in due course.
Can I disable the Supporter Badge?
Yes! This is totally optional; if you want to show your support and help promote this supporter programme, you can display the badge next to your username.
However, if you'd rather keep it to yourself, you can disable this in your user settings.
Can I be a supporter and still display adverts?
Yes! If you really want to double up your support for us, you can opt to re-enable adverts from your user settings; it's totally up to you.
Will my subscription auto-renew?
Yes! Memberful (the system we're using to power our supporter/subscription scheme) will handle your auto-renewing subscription. You can also disable your auto-renew before your next due date to prevent it from automatically renewing.
Who handles my payment information?
Behind that, payments are processed by Stripe, one of the leading online payment services that handle millions of transactions daily.
Your payment data is held securely in these systems and will never be transferred onto our servers.
What currencies do you accept?
Currently, our partner Memberful only allows one currency per account. As the majority of our readers are US based we have opted for US Dollars to be our primary currency; therefore, everyone will be charged in USD regardless of their location. We hope to offer specific UK (GBP) and Euro prices in the future.
Do you charge sales tax or VAT?
For subscribers in the UK, you will be charged 20% VAT which is absorbed by us into your price. This will be shown on your receipt/invoice. We do not charge VAT for subscribers outside of the UK.

What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel at any time through the account management page on Memberful. If you cancel within your subscription period, you will retain access to your supporter benefits until the day your next payment would have been taken.
There are no charges for cancellation, however, you must cancel before your renewal date as we can not offer refunds after your subscription renews.
How do I update/change my subscription or payment details?
You can change your subscription details on the account management page on Memberful. You can switch between monthly and yearly plans, change your payment details or cancel the auto-renew.
Why is the yearly price cheaper?
With every payment/transaction made, the platform holders Memberful/Stripe charge us a transaction fee.
If you choose to pay monthly, that's 12 transactions per year (and 12 transaction fees), whereas if you choose to pay yearly, there is just one transaction fee.
Fewer transaction fees allow us to offer a lower price for yearly subscribers.
Can I switch my subscription to a different user account?
Yes, your subscription is tied to a single user account but can be switched at any time; simply visit the account management page on Memberful and go to 'Preferences' and answer the 'What is your username?' question with your new username.
Once updated, your subscription will be associated with the new account and disconnected from the old account.
